Beim Polaris 4k handelt es sich um einen Kurzdistanz-Projektor: ein solcher projiziert aus nächster Nähe zur Wand ein großes Bild. Bei einem Abstand von nur etwas über 15 Zentimetern zur Wand bekommt man eine Bilddiagonale von 80 Zoll. Um Filme und Serien auf 120 Zoll zu erleben, muss der Projektor 38 Zentimeter von der Leinwand entfernt sein.
Der Polaris 4k ist ein Triple-Laser-Projektor. Mit 2500 ANSI-Lumen ist der UST-Beamer sehr hell. Das Kontrastverhältnis liegt bei 15000:1.
Der Polaris 4k kommt mit einem Augenschutz daher. Nähert man sich dem Projektor auf kurze Distanz, schalten sich die Laser im Inneren ab. Im Anschluss mahnt der Projektor in englischer Sprache an, dass man sich aus der direkten Umgebung zum Polaris 4k entfernen soll, um keine Schäden an den Augen zu riskieren.
