Das EF 100 mm 1:2,8L IS USM gehört zur professionellen L-Serie von Canon und ist eines der ersten Objektive mit einem Bildstabilisator, der horizontale und vertikale Kamerabewegungen erkennt - ideal für Aufnahmen aus kurzer Entfernung. Der Ring-USM (Ultraschallmotor) gewährleistet einen schnellen und nahezu geräuschlosen Autofokus. Alternativ kann auch jederzeit eine manuelle Scharfstellung vorgenommen werden, ohne dass die AF-Funktion ausgeschaltet werden muss. Das Objektiv hat eine Naheinstellgrenze von ca. 0,3 m.
