Das Objektiv vefügt über ED-Glaslinsen und weitere fortschrittliche Linsen-Elemente, dessen Oberflächen aufwendig poliert und mit einer Super-EBC-Vergütung versehen wurden. Das hochwertige Metallgehäuse ist mit einem präzise gefertigten Blendenring ausgestattet, der eine intuitive Einstellung der Blendenwerte in 1/3-Stufen erlaubt. Durch das besondere Design der Blendenlamellen lässt sich ein ausgezeichneter Unschärfe-Effekt erzielen.
Die Lamellen sind gebogen, wodurch sich eine annähernd runde Kreisöffnung bei allen Blendeneinstellungen ergibt. Die Lamellenkanten wurden abgerundet, was zu einem schärferen Bild beiträgt. Das Fujifilm X-Bajonett nutzt die Vorteile einer spiegellosen Konstruktion voll aus. Das kurze Auflagemass von nur 17,7 mm ermöglicht eine hohe Auflösungsleistung über die gesamte Bildfläche
