Item description
Satellitenkommunikationsgerät Garmin inReach mini 2 ( orange). Verbindet sich weltweit über das Satellitennetzwerk Iridium® und kann darüber SMS senden und empfangen sowie Notrufe absetzen (GEOS). Telefongespräche sind nicht möglich.

Das Gerät ist sehr leicht und lässt sich bequem in der Hosentasche verstauen oder mit der Halterung am Gürtel oder Rucksack befestigen. Es wiegt nur ca. 100g.
Das Gerät wird ohne Abo vermietet. Damit es funktioniert, muss eine Aktivierungsgebühr (42 CHF) an Garmin gezahlt werden, plus ein Monatsabo (günstigstes momentan 9 CHF) abgeschlossen werden. Tarifdetail siehe hier:

Eine Miete des Geräts lohnt sich also eher für einen längeren Zeitraum als für eine Tagestour.
Das Gerät funktionierte einwandfrei während einer 3 Tagestour im abgelegenen Val Calanca im Tessin und während einer 8 Tagestour im schwedischen Nationalpark Sarek nördlich des Polarkreis.
Abholung in Zürich bevorzugt, ich kann es aber auch per Post verschicken.
