Die Theta S nimmt wahlweise hochauflösende sphärische Bilder mit bis zu 14 Megapixel auf oder erstellt Panoramavideos jetzt in Full HD mit 30 B/Sek. und einer maximalen Aufnahmedauer von je 25 Minuten. Für die bessere Bildqualität sorgen ein grösserer Bildsensor und ein lichtstarkes F2.0-Objektiv, welches mehr Licht durch das von Ricoh entwickelte optische System mit ultra-kleiner Doppellinse lässt. Mit dem Bulb-Modus können Panorama-Standbilder auch bei schwachen Lichtverhältnissen aufgenommen werden. Für geringes Bildrauschen sorgt dabei die Bildverarbeitungstechnologie der Ricoh Theta S. Die sphärischen Bilder können auf Theta360.com hochgeladen, über Facebook, Twitter und Tumblr geteilt und auf Google Maps, Google+ und dem YouTube360°-Kanal gepostet werden.
