Es profitiert darüber hinaus von funktionalen Verbesserungen, wie dem hinzugefügten Blendenring und dem High-Speed-Autofokus mit dem HLA-Antrieb (High-Response Linear Actuator). Das Sigma 24-70mm F2. 8 DG DN II - Art ist ca. 7% kleiner und 10% leichter als das Vorgängermodell. Dabei wurde die Bedienungsfreundlichkeit durch einen Blendenring und zwei AFL-Tasten verbessert. Trotz der kompakteren Ausführung und der verbesserten Ausstattung bietet das Objektiv hohe Verarbeitungsqualität.
