The lens consists of three aspherical elements. In addition, an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element and a Super ED glass element ensure minimal chromatic aberration. At the same time, resolution remains at the highest level with natural bokeh. The circular aperture of the lens is made of blades. To give reflections no chance and to maintain contrast and clarity, it is coated with Nano AR (Anti Reflection).

The FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM has a "Direct Drive SSM (Super Sonic Wave Motor)" that quickly and efficiently controls the optimal focus point. Algorithms control the lens elements quickly and precisely.
